Junior Software Developer (Reports to CEO)

Location: Remote (with ability to meet in Germantown, MD office weekly)

Description: 
The Junior Software Developer is part of an agile development team building and working on enterprise grade software systems on top of the Microsoft .NET development stack. The Junior Software Developer is involved in all areas of development from design to development to testing.

Duties and Responsibilities
Working with an agile team to develop, test, and maintain web and desktop-based business applications built on Microsoft technologies. Assisting in the collection and documentation of user’s requirements, development of user stories, and estimates. Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software. Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. Participating in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. Package and support deployment of releases. Working with teammates in the migration of older applications (asp) to current Microsoft technologies. Developing, refining, and tuning integrations between applications. Analyzing and resolving technical and application problems. Adhering to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget. Providing third-level support to business users.

Desired Skills & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Strong desire to learn

Core Competency Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of object oriented programming concepts
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and querying concepts
  • Familiarity with version control concepts

Preferred Competency Requirements:

  • Exposure to Microsoft .NET development using C# and ASP.NET
  • Exposure to web development using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies

Junior Software Developer (Reports to CEO)

Location: Remote (with ability to meet in Germantown, MD office weekly)

Description: 
The Junior Software Developer is part of a development team building Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions and maintaining corporate and product websites.

The development teams utilize a microservice approach using the Microsoft Azure platform, Microsoft .NET languages (C# and ASP.NET), and MS SQL.  For the front-end the developments teams utilize HTML5, CSS 3.0, and JavaScript.

The Junior Software Developer will be involved in all facets of the lifecycle to include planning, building, testing, delivery, deployment, and maintenance.  Every team member will need to serve in any role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively support the team as a full stack software developer
  • Embrace an Agile-mindset throughout each day
  • Embrace the use of Scrum, Kanban, and Lean
  • Utilize a combination of Test-Driven-Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven-Development (BDD)
  • Practice secure coding
  • Practice Agile engineering
  • Continually align to standard engineering approaches and quality minimums
  • Continually refactor code and scripts
  • Continually suggest enhancements to the organization and team technical stacks
  • Collaborate with leadership and Product Owners to add more customer value to our tools
  • Maintain VersionOne daily
  • Check-in code to GitLab at least once a day
  • Utilize static code analysis (SCA) tools daily (SonarQube & SonarLint)
  • Continually seek ways to automate every aspect of delivery and deployment
  • As needed, conduct code and peer reviews
  • As needed, provide customer support
  • As needed, provide internal demonstrations

Release Train Engineer (Reports to CEO)

Location: Washington DC (metro accessible)

RTE to lead planning, integration, and execution of software development within a Scaled Agile Framework environment (SAFe). The candidate should have a solid background working within a Scaled Agile Framework for a minimum of 3 years as an RTE. RTE will facilitate across a program of approximately 12 teams with multiple partners.  Position requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include:

Establish program level cadence and drive program level ceremonies (e.g. PI Planning, Product Management Council, Scrum of Scrums, release train retrospectives, HIP Sprint)

Facilitate the coordinated preparation and execution of release planning for the ART. This includes:

  • Working with the ART team who prioritizes the features to be considered in the next program increment (PI) planning cycle
  • Facilitating the ART team’s refinement of features to be considered in the next PI planning cycle to meet the Feature Definition of Ready
  • Facilitating the ART team who prioritizes the technology enablers to be considered in the next program increment planning cycle.
  • Assists the ART in communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers during feature definition and delivery
  • Ensuring effective communication and coordination for and during PI planning
  • Managing change to the ART’s PI plan and the impacts of those changes

Drive cross team, ART, and departmental impediments, planning, collaboration, and coordination. Provide regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments.

Serve as an escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Masters and scrum teams

Facilitate alignment dependencies between the program team and third parties, release managers, or between the team and other Scrum Teams. Understand and manage upstream/downstream dependencies.

Foster a team collaborative environment that tears down silos between groups – act in a single voice Drive delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity.

Manage program level coordination, such as creating timelines, milestones, and cadence of increments and releases and oversee the development of reports and analyses that document program activity.

Develop / modify processes, policies, and procedures related to SAFe to facilitate the working relationship between project teams and partners

Act as a galvanizing force for sharing Agile and SAFe knowledge across the organization.

Support the configuration of SAFe to the needs of the organization, standardizing and documenting practices and coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
