Duties and Responsibilities
Working with an agile team to develop, test, and maintain web and desktop-based business applications built on Microsoft technologies. Assisting in the collection and documentation of user’s requirements, development of user stories, and estimates. Preparing reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software. Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. Participating in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code. Package and support deployment of releases. The Junior Software Developer is part of a development team building Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions and maintaining corporate and product websites.

Release Train Engineer (Washington DC)

Release Train Engineer 

Location: Washington DC (metro accessible)

Description:

RTE to lead planning, integration, and execution of software development within a Scaled Agile Framework environment (SAFe). The candidate should have a solid background working within a Scaled Agile Framework for a minimum of 3 years as an RTE. RTE will facilitate across a program of approximately 12 teams with multiple partners.  Position requires strong communication and organizational skills.

This is a contract position.

Responsibilities include:

Establish program level cadence and drive program level ceremonies (e.g. PI Planning, Product Management Council, Scrum of Scrums, release train retrospectives, HIP Sprint)

Facilitate the coordinated preparation and execution of release planning for the ART. This includes:

  • Working with the ART team who prioritizes the features to be considered in the next program increment (PI) planning cycle
  • Facilitating the ART team’s refinement of features to be considered in the next PI planning cycle to meet the Feature Definition of Ready
  • Facilitating the ART team who prioritizes the technology enablers to be considered in the next program increment planning cycle.
  • Assists the ART in communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers during feature definition and delivery
  • Ensuring effective communication and coordination for and during PI planning
  • Managing change to the ART’s PI plan and the impacts of those changes

Drive cross team, ART, and departmental impediments, planning, collaboration, and coordination. Provide regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments.

Serve as an escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Masters and scrum teams

Facilitate alignment dependencies between the program team and third parties, release managers, or between the team and other Scrum Teams. Understand and manage upstream/downstream dependencies.

Foster a team collaborative environment that tears down silos between groups – act in a single voice Drive delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity.

Manage program level coordination, such as creating timelines, milestones, and cadence of increments and releases and oversee the development of reports and analyses that document program activity.

Develop / modify processes, policies, and procedures related to SAFe to facilitate the working relationship between project teams and partners

Act as a galvanizing force for sharing Agile and SAFe knowledge across the organization.

Support the configuration of SAFe to the needs of the organization, standardizing and documenting practices and coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
